What to Expect From Puppy Yoga Classes in San Francisco
Thinking about trying puppy yoga classes in San Francisco but not sure what to expect? You're in the right place. This guide covers everything — from what happens during a session to how to prepare, so you can walk through the door at 222 Columbus Ave feeling completely ready for the best hour of your week.

The format: 30 + 30
Every puppy yoga session at our San Francisco studio follows a simple, satisfying structure. The first half is a 30-minute all-level yoga class led by a certified instructor. The poses are accessible and gentle — no flexibility required, no experience needed. The puppies roam freely around the room the entire time, which means you might end the warrior pose with a puppy on your back. That's not a bug, it's a feature.
The second half opens up into 30 minutes of pure free time with the pups. Sit on the floor, hold a puppy, let them curl up in your lap, take a hundred photos — there are no rules except to enjoy every second. This is the part guests consistently describe as genuinely therapeutic, and it's easy to understand why. Puppies have a way of melting stress that no other wellness activity can quite replicate.
What should I bring?
Very little. Yoga mats are provided at the studio, so you don't need to carry yours across the city. Wear clothes that allow easy movement — leggings, joggers, a loose top. You might want to bring a water bottle. That's it.

Can I bring my own dog?
No — and this is actually a thoughtful part of the experience. The puppies in each session come from trusted breeder and rescue partners. Bringing your own dog would disrupt the dynamics of the group and the puppies' comfort. The good news is, the puppies at our sessions are chosen specifically for their temperament and love of human interaction.
What breeds can I expect?
Breed announcements are typically made 4–5 days before each session on Puppy Yoga USA's Instagram Stories (@puppyyoga.usa). Previous San Francisco sessions have featured Miniature Goldendoodles and other fan-favorite breeds. Note that specific breeds aren't guaranteed, as availability can change — but every breed that joins our sessions is adorable, socialized, and ready to make your weekend.

Is it popular in SF?
Absolutely. San Francisco is one of Puppy Yoga USA's fastest-growing locations. The Bay Area's deep culture of mindfulness and animal welfare makes wellness puppy yoga a natural fit. Spots regularly sell out — so if you see an available date, don't wait.
Sessions run every weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Multiple time slots are available. Book at puppyyogaus.com.
